Improvisation

I improvise as a multi-instrumentalist, though the centre of my practice tends to be electric guitar, keyboard instruments, and melodica. The centre of my improvisation practice is through ‘Dronehopper’, my duo with fellow sound experimenter Kevin Leomo. Our first album, Lo-Fi Experimental Beats to Disassociate and Relax To is available on our bandcamp page, and we can be caught playing shows around Scotland but particularly in Glasgow. Find us on social media for announcements! I also occasionally upload solo improvisations to my bandcamp page across a range of instruments and objects.

Opening track from the Dronehopper album

This improvisation was recorded in the longest week ever, the frantic and uncertain week leading up to the first covid-19 lockdown. It is a pure expression of the tension, uncertainty, and anxiety of that shared moment. It was performed on a Nord Electro 3 emulating a Hammond B3 organ.
